GRIFFIN, GA. – April 6, 2005 – Sylvan Grove Hospital announced today that Edward J. Whitehouse was named administrator on April 4, 2005.

Whitehouse brings more than 25 years of health care management experience to the role. Most recently, he was chief executive officer at The Family Psychiatric Hospital, a 100-bed psychiatric hospital in Sunrise, Fla.  Throughout his career, Whitehouse has served in various senior management positions at several hospitals, including: chief executive officer at Summit Hospital, a 126-bed psychiatric hospital in Summit, N.J.; hospital administrator/chief executive officer at Atlantic Shores Hospital, an 86-bed private psychiatric hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; chief operating officer at South Florida State Hospital, a 350-bed psychiatric hospital in Pembroke Pines, Fla.; chief executive officer/administrator at Cumberland Hospital, a 175-bed psychiatric hospital in Fayetteville, N.C.; administrator/chief executive officer at Lakeside Osteopathic Hospital, a 167-bed full service hospital in Kansas City, Mo.  He has also worked as an executive consultant in the healthcare industry and in a number of other executive healthcare roles.

Whitehouse earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the College of Staten Island in Staten Island, N.Y. and his master’s degree in business administration from Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y.

Sylvan Grove Hospital, part of Tenet Georgia, is a 25-bed acute care facility located at 1050 McDonough Road in Jackson, Ga.  The hospital originally opened in 1962 as a Hill Burton hospital serving the healthcare needs of Butts County, Ga. and has been designated as a critical access facility since 2001.
